Thursday celebrations

For three weeks now I have been blessed by a sweet husband who wants to do something nice for his pregnant wife. Thursdays are my official 'turnover' day--meaning the day I advance on to the next week of pregnancy. To celebrate reaching 24 weeks Troy got up early to make breakfast--cinnamon chip scones. They were great and a wonderful surprise.

Then last week I awoke once again on Thursday (25 weeks) to find baked oatmeal in the oven. Yummy! And once again, yesterday (26 weeks), there were whole wheat waffles and smoothies waiting on the table when I got up.

Whether the trend continues or not (although I hope it does!!) these three weeks have been a real treat. What a lucky Mama-to-be I am!

Landscaping Updates

Since the day we moved in (or at least shortly after!) Troy has had a few projects in mind to update our house--both inside and outside. So far we have painted two bedrooms and a bathroom (this included sanding down textured walls and dewallpapering), converted a wood fireplace to gas, repainted all exterior windows, and completely revamped our landscaping. Considering that we have not yet lived here two years, I think we are doing well! We also have a huge painting project for our living room/entryway scheduled for May. **I must add a disclaimer that several of these projects have been done with the assistance of family--and we are very thankful for the capable and resourceful people in our families.
Below is a look at the changes in our landscaping!

A view from afar, shows what the landscaping was like when we bought the house. Notice the big trees and bushes covering much of the front of the house.

In this picture you can see the old flower bed (with new mulch, bushes and edging).

Troy knocking down the flower bed and hauling away bricks.

The new look! Complete with an extended patio area.

We are very happy with the new look our home now has!

"Mama say..."

...dear God." Timothy requested this as I put him down for nap today. Every night we say prayers together and today he wanted to pray at nap time too, so he wanted me to start the prayer with Dear God. We thanked God for Mama, Daddy, Timothy, horses, lions and another horse. It always makes me smile when Timothy initiates the prayer! :-)

Big Boy Bed

Yesterday was the day! Timothy napped for the first time in his toddler bed. It was not a good day to start. We got home from church late, so lunch was later and thus nap too. Then we were having a new fridge delivered right when Timothy was trying to fall asleep. It only took about three trips to the room and reminders to stay in bed and he was out--much to my surprise!

Now we are on day two. He went to sleep just like he does in his crib today. Wow! I suspect that it will not always be this easy of a transition, but I will take it for now!

Easter Fun

It is a bright, sunny Saturday and we kicked of the Easter weekend with a bit of fun. Loving cute, themed recipes as I do, i made a batch of bunny cinnamon rolls for breakfast (very easy to make--trust me!). The picture below would suggest Timothy was not excited about his bunny. Truthfully what he is not happy about is that he has had to wait a good ten minutes to eat his bunny while his mommy poured milk, dished up bananas and snapped pictures. He was very happy when it came time to eat it!!

Not long after breakfast we headed out to an Easter egg hunt. Last year gathered a grand total of one egg. This year he got quite a few. Hunt is not really a good description of this event. In reality there is a huge area covered in plastic eggs and at the signal lots and lots and 2/3 year olds are let loose to gather eggs. Timothy is rather intimidated by lots of people so even getting a few eggs is a great accomplishment!

At the event, Timothy also tried out one of the jumping houses, but got scared with all the bouncing and wasn't able to stand up. He would have loved to bounce around if he was the only one in it! And there was a big fire truck to check out too. He has been into big trucks lately, so that was fun. Below is a picture of all the eggs Timothy gathered!

Happy Easter Everyone!
