The first face

I was amazed this morning when Timothy said he was drawing a picture of his friend. Often such a picture could be a bunch of lines or a bunch of circles drawn around and around. And of course he would say there was an eye or a mouth, but really only he could see it. But today...there was a face--complete with eyes, nose and mouth. Another sign that he is growing up.

Fun with food

How do you make vegetables an exciting snack?

First get a copy of the book...

Then create a cat using green beans, carrots and salad dressing. Timothy was asking for more green beans at snack! A nice change from goldfish and other crackers he likes to have. (It also helps to have a few fun parts like licorice whiskers!)

Valentine's Day

Valentine's morning began with a few gifts for one another.
Timothy got a new dinosaur watch because he is really interested in what numbers the hands of the clock are pointing to.

Teresa got two new sippy cups which she enjoys holding and has no idea how to hold!
Troy got some cologne and I got some bubble bath with a promise that Timothy and Troy would draw a bath for me later in the evening!
Troy went all out to spoil me. He made us all baked oatmeal and smoothies for breakfast. And since I said he need not buy me flowers, he bought me "flours" in the form of a fresh loaf of my favorite bread from a bakery in town. He also was in charge of dinner and dessert. He made some special strawberry mice from Timothy's cookbook. Timothy thought his mice were the coolest things ever! See the picture below.

As promised I did get a wonderful bath complete with bubbles and scented candles. Timothy was really excited to get everything ready and even got to help light candles. He thought it was funny that I was going to read a book during my bath.

Valentine's day was a wonderful day of love and fun for our family.

Double negatives and toddlers...

Timothy has listened to the song "My God is so Great" on his VeggieTales CD recently. He pays attention to the words which is wonderful. Unfortunately, the double negative is a bit beyond him.

He hears 'My God is so great, so strong and so mighty, there's nothing my God cannot do.' His translation is "God can't do anything!" I keep reminding him that the song is really saying God can do everything. We'll see if that sinks in!

Sleep, Sweet Sleep

Last night Teresa finally slept. Which , in turn, means that I finally slept. Nearly 7 uninterrupted hours. We were up at midnight and then there was peaceful sleep--no fussing, no re-nuking, nothing until nearly 7am. Admittedly I did awake at 5am and adjust the monitor expecting to hear screaming. And from 6am to 7am I was half awake waiting for the cries to come. But it still felt like a lot of sleep and oh it was sweet! I only hope this is a trend and not just a random occurrence.
