10 years!

Troy and I celebrated 10 years of marriage yesterday!  Wow ten years is hard to believe.  It seems like such a long time until I start thinking about people who have been married 30, 40 or 50 years.

Our first ten years has been filled with lots of things. 2 kids, 3 moves, 2 jobs for Troy, a fair amount of travel.  It is Troy's prediction that the next 10 years might feel more stable and have a bit less change in it.  We will see! :-)  We pray for many more wonderful years together!
We celebrated the day with a nice dinner in downtown Dubuque.  Then we took a brief walk on the riverfront.  A perfect evening!

Soccer Family!

We're a soccer family! ...Teresa and Timothy had their first games (and practices!) with the Dubuque Community Soccer organization today, June 1st. It was hot and humid, and with random random showers that rained on the games (and hard!). But the games still went on! It was a brand new experience for Teresa (her first time on a soccer team), and as Timothy said to his Daddy tonight: "This will be my first time playing soccer in Iowa." They both had fun.
Teresa in action kicking! ...practice before the game
Teresa's age - and team - had a little more disorganization going on. (Players were frequently running off the field, and doing nothing that their coach asked them to - and one player was his daughter!) Teresa's "Yellow" team played the gray team. The gray team certainly scored more goals. But the Yellow team scored one - and guess who scored it! Teresa! ...she was a good listener to what the coach actually said. And she had fun!
With some other yellow team players - forming "the Great Wall of China" at the game beginning, as a form of defense against the other team's kickoff

The Newest Troftgruben Soccer Player!

Random rainstorms have their perks: rainbows! ...Timothy's team is the "light green" team, here seen practicing before their game. (Teresa and Maria are huddled under an orange umbrella in the background slightly left!)
Although we've only a few pictures, it was generally a fun night. Despite hard rain at times, Timothy kept on playing through the rain. (He came home and told his Daddy, "Daddy, I got soaked!!") The rain didn't dampen his spirits much. The teams play Sunday nights (with a 15 minute pre-game practice). We'll miss a few games when we're gone in Colorado, but otherwise we'll make most of them.
I think we've a couple of soccer players in the Troftgruben squad.
