Sunday afternoon

Here are two pictures from our afternoon. Timothy requested a "Lightening McQueen" for snack today. (We have been into special snacks that look like things...flowers, caterpillars, snakes, and now cars!) Troy was in charge of this one! What do you think?! After snack we all headed to the YMCA for some family swim time. Here is Teresa in her very girly swimsuit. It was given to us as a gift and we think it is great! It is great to have some full fledged frilly things!

Happy Birthday

I celebrated my birthday this past week. It was a wonderful, low key day. I took the kids to open gym in the morning. He loves to bounce on the trampolines and since we had no other plans, why not make it a good day for him. Teresa liked bouncing with me on the trampoline too. Her first time.

Although I did not have an eventful day, I was happy to have a variety of birthday greetings by phone, mail and email. We celebrated in the evening with a simple family dinner with take out from Qdoba. And once again this year I made my favorite brownie torte. Troy had a prayer service in the evening, so I had to do bedtime on my own. But he was back pretty quick and we enjoyed some evening time together. A very good birthday, indeed! I am a lucky lady with a wonderful family!

A thoughtful answer

Timothy is in a very inquisitive phase lately. He wants to know everything and most often I do not have any answers for his inquiries. This morning the question was 'who made my car?' (He was holding a little Lightening McQueen matchbox car. Well I suppose it was made in some toy factory in China, but rather than saying that, I put the question back to him..."who do you think made it?" To which Timothy replied "I think Jesus made it." And I suppose Jesus did give someone the abilities to imagine the toy and the resources to create it. I liked his answer a lot better than mine!

Spring

Well, I just wrote yesterday that I was anxious to dress my kiddos in new spring clothes. Today, the first day of spring, I decided to go for it. It is warmer today, although not very sunny. So we went for the layered look for Teresa and just buckled with Timothy and let him wear short sleeves.

Happy Spring everyone!

Skating with Grandma

Timothy tried skating outside just once this winter. Grandma Judy had planned to
attend the skating show, but since Timothy didn't actually "skate" much during the show, we suggested she come for her own private skating show. The indoor rinks were all closed by early March, so outdoors it was. Luckily the weather cooperated--warm enough to enjoy and cold enough to still have ice! (Timothy liked coming home to warm up with some hot chocolate!)

Quick Learner and wishing for spring

We went to the water park this week. His favorite part is the small slides in the toddler area. He decided to try going down head first. (And I should mention Timothy does not like getting his face wet and has only been underwater one time!) The water park is very loud and I don't think he would have heard had Troy, who was at the bottom of the slide, tried to tell him to go down on his bottom. So down Timothy goes. Despite Troy's best effort to catch him, he plunged headfirst into the water. Troy wisely did not react much and after a couple coughs Timothy was fine--no tears. That was also his last attempt to go down headfirst. He learned that all slides are not the same and especially when water is involved, headfirst may not be the best choice!

We are now in the middle of March and I am wishing for spring weather. And although I do long to go outside and play and feel the warm sun, the real reason I want spring is so Teresa can wear the cute spring dress I bought yesterday. In fact, I have several new spring/summer outfits I want her to wear. Today she is wearing a sweater and snow is predicted next week, so I think it may be awhile before she can model the new outfits. (Timothy, on the other hand, was wearing his new t-shirt over his pajamas last night! I just don't think Teresa's cute dress would look as good over fuzzy giraffe pajamas!) Hopefully soon I can post some spring wardrobe pictures!

As we wait for spring, here are just some cute pictures from today.

Skating Show

Timothy was in his first skating show this weekend. He has been taking lessons since November and each age group can opt to be in the end of the year ice show. Troy heard that the little kids are very cute, so we decided to give it a try. We were a bit frustrated by the lack of information about the show and practice. We almost bailed on the whole event, but it turned out to be a good thing.

We accidentally missed the practice with his teacher and the other skaters on Tuesday. We attended the rehearsal on Friday to find that most of the other kids that were opting to be in the show were a bit older and better at skating. They were all following the teacher in a variety of moves. Timothy sort of stood there and looked lost. He really did not skate much at all and his teacher carried him onto and off of the ice. But after talking it over, we gave Timothy the choice to be in the show or not. He chose to do it. It wasn't much different than the rehearsal, but we were proud of him for going out on the ice alone and doing his best! And he really is a great skater considering what he could do in November!

This picture is actually of the rehearsal. Timothy is the little one in the center.

Waiting to go on the ice with the other kids.

Waiting with Daddy before the show.

I think it was a fun time for Timothy. And no matter what, he did get the cool tie dye t-shirt out of the deal (his costume) which he absolutely loves! He also thought it was fun to sit in the stands and watch the other skaters.

Play time!

Here is a look at what we do for fun...
Teresa ...surrounded with toys and a big smiley balloon, lunges for anything she can grab. Once she has something, it goes right to her mouth. (She does take a break to smile for the camera!)
Timothy... having used the pegs to make a birthday cake, and a tower, he now is working on his drumming. (Unlike Teresa, he could not pause to smile for the camera, so we have an action shot!)

7 months

Another month come and gone. Our little baby is already 7 months. She has pretty much mastered sitting with only a topple here and there when an exuberant brother plays with her. She is adjusting to solid foods. Although she likes to have control of the spoon, so it can be a battle to get food to her mouth. Her spitting up has diminished. There are even days when my clothes remain spit free. She is officially sleeping through the night--eating before 10pm and sleeping until about 8am! She lights up at anyone who will smile at her and give her some attention. She scoots backwards some and rolls some, but otherwise not too anxious to be on the go. She loves to play with her toys, or anything she can get her hands on and manipulate. Musical toys especially make her smile.

We are ready to see what another month will bring--certainly much joy and smiles from our little girl!
