Valentine's Day

Valentine's day got celebrated a few times in our house this year.  Troy and I did our special Valentine dinner on the Saturday before.  I made the kids a valentine theme meal that night too.  Troy and I had chicken Marsala, and salad.  The kids had heart shaped biscuits with nutella and strawberries.

Ash Wednesday fell on Valentine's day, so it was a rather busy night.  I did make a heart theme meal again...heart hamburger packets, heart carrots and heart strawberries.  After dinner it was off to church.

The kids got a couple little candies from us and some bath color changing tablets that they are loving!!  The both celebrated valentine's day in their classrooms and came home with many cards and treats.  It was a good day!

Weekend getaway!

It was conference weekend which means a few days off from school.  We took advantage of the time and did a quick family trip to the dells.  Last year we did a big extended family weekend there.  We certainly missed everyone this year, but we still had fun!
We arrived in the afternoon and were excited to hit the water park.  It was a short walk to the pools and we stopped to pose at the overlook by the lobby.

I did not take many pictures as it is hard to swim and carry around a camera.  But there are a few shots of the wave pool.  That was a favorite place to hang out for the kids.  I thought the water was freezing there, so I only went in a few times.  I liked the lazy river and the water slides.  Timothy and Teresa both got bounced off a tube when riding double with Troy or me.  It was on one of the smallest tube rides too!

After swimming awhile in the afternoon and evening we headed up to our room for dinner and watching the Olympics.  We had a tasty dinner of salami, big pretzels, fruit, veggies and cheese sticks with hot cocoa!  We thought it would be easier to not go out.  It really was fun being cozy in our room.

We swam the next morning and afternoon too.  We stayed until about 3pm!  The kids were more tired, but it was still a really fun adventure for our family.  After the Dells, we headed to Aunt Mary's for an overnight. Some highlights of that time was coloring with  Teresa, playing monopoly with Timothy and both kids working on word puzzles with Aunt Mary.  It was a great family mini vacation!

Snow...finally!

It finally snowed!  This is the most snow that we have had all winter.  The kids were in awe of how "deep" it was.  Troy and I reminisced about times in GF when the snow was too deep for little Timothy to play in because it came up to his waist!  At least we have something for the kids to play in finally!  And I felt the need to take a couple pictures.  This is the time of year when pictures never get taken.
