Troy's day!

It was a beautiful day here today.  Temps in the 80's, sunshine, and fall colors all around.  Just what we ordered up for Troy's birthday.  I have wondered if it is silly to blog about the little things we do to celebrate, but last night I realized it is fun to go back and remember how we have celebrated in past years.  So here is the run down!

What Troy wanted for his birthday was a night away from the kids.  (We do have the cutest kids in the world, but it is hard to fit in any adult conversation when they are around!)  So Grandma Judy graciously took the dynamic duo for an overnight.  Troy and I had a wonderful date night at home enjoying some of his favorite foods (salmon, bread and olive oil, good cheese and of course cheesecake).  We had real conversation and recalled some great times from years past.  It was refreshing and simple and truly delightful.

Today was more of a whirlwind day.  The kids showed up by 10 so we could all attend Timothy's first soccer game.  (Which we got to drive to, with Grandma, in our new minivan!  More on that in a later post.)  Before we went to the game, Timothy gave his gift to Troy--coffee.  He came up with that idea on his own!  And I gave Troy a promise to try to have some sort of date night each week.  (We'll see if I can make that happen!)
Happy with some coffee from Timothy!
Birthday hug.
After the Beetles soccer game finished up a great game we headed to Mama Maria's for Troy's free birthday lunch.  The food was great, but the service on the slow side.  By the time we got home nap time was over...oh well.  Troy and his mom went shopping for the afternoon and arrived home just before dinner.
The mighty Beetles!
After a nice family dinner and some fabulous cheesecake (that Timmy helped make) it was time for party games.  Party games meant playing soccer, duck duck goose, and animal races.  The animal races were the best.  Troy made a very entertaining giraffe running across the lawn!

A good day for the birthday boy, and many fun memories made.  Happy birthday to a dear husband, friend and father!
