When Daddy is away...

Troy is in Honduras for a mission trip, so the kids and I are on our own for 10 days.  The last time he was on this trip Timothy and I (no Teresa at that time!) headed to the cities to visit my family.  This time we opted to go it alone at home.  We are now 5 days in and it has been a good week.  And truly 10 days is nothing.  I have many friends on their own a lot longer for a variety of reasons.

But we have been making the most of our time and having fun.  Timothy always likes to have a sleepover in my bed when Troy is gone.  (This is the only time he sleeps in our bed.)  He sleeps well, but I don't.  It is hard to sleep when you have feet kicking you all night.  Timothy seems to have a thing for sleeping sideways in a bed!

We have been sledding and ice skating (much to Teresa's dismay--she is not a fan of anything outdoors), played at the mall (even got to pay for a ride on the horse at the mall!), bought some new clothes (bargains of course!), had a movie night (even eating pizza while watching), had a picnic in the living room, wandered around Cabelas, had an ice cream night, tried to potty train Teresa (no luck there!) attended church (both Sunday and Wednesday), played at a playground (yes, in the snow--a bit of spring fever!), had a visit from Grandma Judy, bought angry birds/ Teddy grahams crackers (not a usual purchase in our house), and we still have plans for another movie night (Bambi again), bowling with friends, perhaps a playdate and one more ice cream night (Troy arranged for a card to arrive with money for this purpose!).

So yes, it has been busy and fun.  I am proud of how well we are doing. I am also proud that the kids have been eating all of my meals and we are not even eating mac and cheese every night.  Meatloaf muffins, homemade fish nuggets, tomato soup, turkey sandwiches, tofu, and of course pizza.  We have also had a lot of sweet potatoes and carrots as Teresa is limited in what veggies she will eat.

We have been praying daily for Troy.  Timothy has always been a good at prayer.  Teresa usually just thanks God for a long list of animals.  This week however, she began praying for Troy to have a good day and to come home safe. :-)  And that is indeed our prayer...for a good trip and a safe return in 5 sleeps.
